Happy New Year's Eve

Happy New Year's Eve!!!

This New Year's is gonna be a crazy one for me! I have a date with my bed, tv, and some sparkling apple/grape cider!! But, don't worry about me, it is exactly where I want to be and it is going to be great! For some reason I'm not feeling all that great today (what else is new, huh?), so staying home sounds even better.

Hope everyone has a more eventful New Year's than mine and be safe!!!!

Cheers!!

Christmas at Home

I have officially made my first round trip drive from San Diego to Los Gatos since moving here. It was not too bad; I had 15G of music and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on cd to keep me company. I decided to make the drives at night so I would miss the lovely rush hour in LA, and it worked, but it still took me 8.5 hours each way!!! But it was worth it!

This Christmas was mostly about the pets, so we had fun watching Marlie (my Border Collie) rip open bags upon bags of toys and treats and Fat Cat getting overwhelmed by all the ribbon there was for him to chew on. My brother and I mostly got money from everyone, and no complaints here. My mom and I went shopping on Wednesday and Thursday on a mission....find me a pair of Ugg boots. Everywhere in San Jose, Santa Cruz, SLO, and Pismo Beach is out!! I also bought myself a few articles of clothing (like I need anymore) and a nice white gold necklace!

And I did get to have lunch with Susannah on Monday as well!! It was nice to see her, even though it was only for a few hours. I WILL make it to NYC at some point...i swear ;)

So, it is back to work tonight (oh joy), but I do have an interview on Thursday with an environmental analytical company in Kerney Mesa as a microbiology laboratory technician!! And they want to pay me almost double what i make at the mall!!! What more could I ask for...being back in a micro lab, playing with bugs, and making good money!!!! Keep your fingers crossed that the interview goes well. I always get the feeling that I may scare them by just how excited I am to be in a lab, but the guy I'm interviewing with sounds just as excited!!

Homeward Bound

I am finally going home tomorrow!! I cannot wait! Unfortunately, though, I have to return to San Diego on Friday so I can work on Saturday, but I will have a few days to relax at home with my Marlie and Fat Cat!

I am driving for this trip, which I have not been looking forward to at all. But, now I have done something funky to my back, so I am really not looking forward to it. I have been taking muscle relaxers like crazy and decided not to go to work today in hopes that it stops spazing out, fingers crossed that it gets better before tomorrow night.

On a happier note, Angie is coming to visit in January!!!! Woohoo!!!!! I feel so loved ;)

Ok...time to return to my heating pad for now.

Christmas at Disneyland

My friend Claire and I decided that as a treat to ourselves for successfully completing our first semester of graduate school we would go to Disneyland, and while we were at it, why not stay in a really nice hotel?!? Joining us on our adventure was her friend from Canada, Dylan, so it worked out really well for us to stay in a hotel and get up and get to the park as soon as it opened. And, let me add, that Disneyland ROCKS at Christmas time! The decorations were amazing.

Here are some of the highlights...
We got there before the park even opened, so the first thing we hit up was the Pirates of the Caribbean. Normally this ride has a huge line, but we just walked right up and got on!! The ride has changed a little since last time...there have been at least three Jack Sparrows added, and a Greggory Rush, and a Davy Jones. And let me just say that I swore Johnny Depp was standing right in front of me!! Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures on this ride, but Claire did...so I'm going to try to snag one of Jack Sparrow.

Next came Indiana Jones. Great ride, and again, no line!!! It is basically the same as it was the last time I was there, the summer of 2001. We also took the Jungle boat ride without a line too!!! All three rides were done by about 11am.

We then moved onto Space Mountain...and I am just going to say that because of this ride and a certain someone tricking me onto it when I was 4 years old (*clearing my throat*...dad :)~) I could not ride roller coasters until I was in high school. Another ride that reminds me of my childhood was Star Tours (although this one did not terrify me!!!)....and its been probably 20 years or longer since I stated going there as a little one and it has not changed a single bit!!

Finally came It's a Small World. Not my favorite ride, but man were the Christmas decoration bad ass!!! And I took about 50 pictures of this ride alone (including the one at the top of this post)!! Here are some of the better ones...
During the day and inside... Inside....

And now outside......

It's a Small World was amazing to see at night, but my favorite decorations were at the Haunted Mansion....Nightmare Before Christmas!!!! I could not take any pictures inside, but I got a few outside.

We saw Sleeping Beauty's castle...

We did and saw so much more than this; we were there for like nine hours, but I have gone on long enough....but, here is one more random pictures (just for mom!!)

Claire and I:

It is now almost 1am and I am beat, so this is the end of my Day at Disneyland Tour (at least for now), but hope you enjoy the pictures. I am going to try to get some of Claire's, so there may be more pictures to see soon!!!!

I'm Done!!!

Well, I am not officially done until Friday, but I just have to write a paper for that class. I only had two real finals, and they were both yesterday. My biostatistics final was 10 pages long and we had only 2 hours to complete it, but I kicked its butt!!!!! The second final, epidemiology, was about an hour after the first, and I don't really want to talk about that one!!! Actually, it was not that bad, but not as good as I had hoped. Oh well. But, I am done until the middle of January, and it is going to be a really really busy semester. It should be really fun though, or at least interesting....I think that I am taking a class called HIV/AIDS epidemiology!!!!!

I will be coming home for Christmas, but probably not until Christmas Eve, and probably only for a few days. When is anyone else going to be in town??

BeadforLife

BeadforLife is a program in Uganda that is working to help rid extreme poverty. It is made of up men and women in a village in Uganda who make handmade beads from recycled paper and beaded jewelry that can be purchased online, and most of it is pretty cool. So, check it out here. The products are fairly cheap, they have cool products, and you have the opportunity to help these men and women of this village make a decent living!!!
